About Me

I am an independent journalist and researcher working in the field of environment, science and social justice for last 20 years. I have reported from 13 of the 15 major agro-climatic zones of India and have also been privileged to engage with media students and journalists as a trainer on topics ranging from reporting on water and climate crisis, social justice and using multimedia and right to information for investigative journalism.

Along the way, I gained a few fellowships and awards, including the prestigious fellowships and grants from the Government of India on RTI Act, CMS Vatavaran Young Journalist Award, TDU-Nature Journal Fellowship on Biodiversity, Water Aid's Fellowship on Water Conservation and Sanitation, Bhoomi Senior Fellowship and the Pulitzer Centre's Grant on Gender and Sexuality.

I have done documentation and research work on transparency law, digitisation of India’s public broadcaster and environmental conservation. You can check more about this on the Research Page

In 2011, I founded GoI Monitor, a web platform on development and policy issues in India. The web platform was operational for 10 years and was archived in 2022. It had collaborations with regional newspapers and alternative online news portals which used to republish our content.

I was a resource person on climate crisis reporting for media workshops organised by GIZ, India, and the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests in four non-metropolitan cities. I have also done sessions with media students at several universities and colleges on environmental reporting, social justice and transparency law.

You can find more about this on the Workshops Page
